Each year, in preparation before the migration to Brazil, Purple Martins gather in large roosts. No one knows exactly why they do this. It could be for protection, because of their strong colonization instincts, etc. If you know of a local roost, go visit it as they are an awesome event to see. Get the word out to the Martin community, but more importantly, to your local community. Use it as an opportunity to educate people, get people interested in hosting Purple Martins, but more importantly, to protect these roosts from those uneducated to the purposes of such roosts.

I need YOUR help with this roost information. If you have a story, information, or pictures of one these roosts, or any other roosts, I would like to include it on these, or a new, page. I know there are many roosts out there that I have not covered. I do not want to do these roosts a disservice by providing heresay or second hand information. This information is for the benefit of all Martineers and the Purple Martin. If I use any of your information or pictures, proper credit will be given.
