Blaine Johnson's Repeating Sparrow Trap
The trap is 24" x 16" x 8" with a pine and galvanized hardware cloth construction for a lifetime of use. The first season I trapped with this trap in my yard I removed nearly 200 house sparrows, with a record one-day catch of 21 birds. I'm now into the fourth year, and rarely catch more than thirty birds a season, as I've decimated the population in my immediate neighborhood. If, and when I see a house sparrow, the trap goes out and the bird is eliminated. I've built and sold nearing 200 of these traps with 100% satisfaction. The design is self-resetting, allows for holding a decoy once you've caught one, and I've not had one escape. No escapees means no trap-shy birds.
