On Aug 4, 2007, this year our group, The Purple Martin Landlords Of North Texas or ( The PMLNT http://purplemartins.com/NorthTexasMartins/index.html) as we are called, went to Lewisville, Tx for the pre-migratory roost event.

We go every year and have seen more & more Martins come to congregate in the trees each year. We estimated there to be around 50,000 martins this year. Our Founder and President, Gisela Fregoe spearheads the gathering every year and we really look forward to this special event. In the video I made are a few of our members, like Gisela and Tim Hammonds that I zoomed in on and got a picture of our Organizations Logo, and others too numberous to mention. There are 125 members in our group here in Grand Prairie, Texas. I have included a map and directions in case anyone who hasn't been to the Lewisville roost can come next year. We always meet up at the Golden Corral to eat and share fellowship before we move to the roost location to see this spectacular event. The reason I made the video is I want to share with everyone these Beautiful Birds and their Beautiful Song and the Fact that they are only here in the US for just a little while. Then they are gone again and sorely missed by all of us.

My Name is Kenny Crawford and I live in Grand Prairie, Texas just off of I-20 And Carrier Pkwy. I spent 31 years as a Local truck driver for Roadway Express, Inc. then retired in 1998. I started being a Martin Landlord in 1979 in Shreveport, La. My Company transferred me from Shreveport, La. to Dallas in 1993 where I again started trying to attract Martins. This last year I had 23 pair, 50 total martins, 130 eggs, 129 hatched, 126 fledged , which is great considering I was completely wiped out a few years back and had to start over again.

With help from Sandy's entrances and knowledge, I changed from round hole entrances to all sreh's and haven't had anymore problems since.
