Below is a classic example of Martins can't read and have no internet access, so they do not know what they are supposed to do "according to the experts". It also shows that "money" cannot buy Martins as they are God's creatures and will nest where they want when they want, even if better housing is available close by. Even the dedication of being a great Martin steward cannot guarantee that Martins will nest in your expensive setup, yet will choose something like what you see below. This setup breaks every rule in the book as to what is safe and best for Martins. These pictures were kindly sent to me by Mike Toole of Cohutta, GA. This setup is somewhere near him, but are not his. In fact, he has a nice setup and is having troubles getting his colony started. He is having visitors, but has not yet run across that "magic" female who will stay. If I remember correctly, he has a Creative Universe gourd rack and using natural gourds, both brown and white, and a combination of round holes as well as SREHs. He also has a house, but I don't remember him telling what kind it was. I have stressed to him to hang in there and it will happen. He is in a martin rich area and not to let something like what these pictures show to get him down nor to lower his spirits. He will obviously be a better steward of Martins than this landlord, but this landlord does have Martins, so what can you say other than Martins Can't Read so they do not know what is best for them.
